Trashed Home

A Great Blue Heron Ardea herodias fishing in White Rock Creek, Dallas.  There is a disappointing lack of natural preserves in Dallas, and most of what exists are artificial lakes and parks, which are great for human activities but rarely ideal for promoting healthy diversity and abundance of wildlife.  The sight of this heron hunting amidst all this trash on my morning bike ride was a depressing reminder of the need more high quality habitat in the Dallas area.  Next time I'm going back with a big trash bag and picking up some of this garbage.
