Almost Like Flying

Willet was uncertain her strangely proportioned daughter would be able to catch her chosen prey.  To her surprise, Whistler and Shen sprinted so fast across the beach they almost flew.  And when the two raptors rounded the dunes, surprising a flock of Inca Terns, they really DID fly.  Leaping into the air with those powerful legs Willet thought too big, they were able to propel themselves a startling distance into the sky.  Swift as they were, the birds never stood a chance.
