Description

My vulturegryphon Ciameth [link] resting in a tranquil glade.

I think this is an improvement on the lighting in my other pictures, especially compared to my first Ciameth picture (so embarrassing[link]) done less than a year ago. Lighting has always been the element with which I struggle most. However, I'm fairly delighted with how this one turned out and, as always, eager to hear any criticism that might help me improve. Does the lighting on the character fit the background? Is the scene too detailed/not detailed enough (should I push for greater realism)? Does the water look right? Any feedback is useful.

Also, do you ever associate a drawing/parts of a drawing with what you were watching/listening to while working on it? This happens to me all the time. When I look at an older picture, I always recall what seems like the most random stuff until I realize that was what was feeding into my mind as I created the drawing. I did this painting in small bits over time while exposing myself to a combination of CSI, Stargate, Tim Curry reading the Abhorsen Trilogy, and the Dragonriders of Pern albums. I'm going to look at this in a year and get such a weird feed of sounds and images.

Awesome! My eyes are slowly looking at everything bit by bit , then all at once..Your water is fantastic, I see movement along with a very clear view of rocks and debris as it flows down stream. The birds scruffy feathers atop its head giving it that wet & dirty look, a unique structure, its foot, feathered body embracing the soil (slightly muddy) beneath, and then the Bluish scaly claws, gives me the impression of tapping the dirt. I love the roots showing above the dirt.As for lighting within the picture well, It is easy to see all the lit areas, where you add light is where it is it's your painting so it's perfect...

All of the picture's that you have shared are FANTASTIC!!!!
